Were Dinosaurs Ferocious Meat-Eaters?

29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.”

Genesis 1:29-30

Before Noah's Flood, all the wild animals and humans only ate vegetation.  The earth was rich in vegetation, which was filled with nutritious elements, as earth was a very different place back then.  The Flood changed all that.

After the Flood, God told man that now he could also eat meat to supplement his diet.

3 “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof (human flesh), shall ye not eat.

5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

Genesis 9:3-5

God said the only exception to that would be human flesh.

Before God told man he could eat meat, He did this first:

“And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.”

Genesis 9:2

This is an indication that before Noah's Flood, all what we consider wild life today, may actually have been tame and did not fear humans.  What a world that must have been like.  What will earth be like when the LORD returns and makes it back like it was in the Garden of Eden?

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.”

Isaiah 11:6
